What is included:

Tour Plan


1 Day / Arrive in Almaty

We will arrive in Almaty in late morning and after pick up you at airport we will drive until the wonderful Almaty Lake 30 Km out from the city. The big Almaty Lake is at an altitude of 2500 meters above sea level, before you arrive there, you can admire the natural beauty of the Trans-Ili Alatau Mountains.
From the main road all start to change compare with the city, road climbs higher and higher, the landscape is changing, more and more huge mossy stones appear on the slopes.
According to scientists, more than 2,000 years ago there was a strong earthquake in these places, literally moving mountains. As a result of this natural cataclysm a natural dam was formed and a giant bowl deep of 38 meters was formed creating the lake. Even in hot summer days water temperature in the lake is not more than 12 Celsius degrees. The color of the water changes depending on the season, the weather and the temperature of the water.

2-3 Days / Singing dunes and Aktau mountain

Altyn-Emel National Park is located in the Ili River Valley, here we can see the sand desert, mountains and green areas. The park was founded on April 10, 1996, with the objective to preserve a natural park complex, as well as archaeological and historical monuments. It is the largest reserve in Kazakhstan and part of UNESCO's world heritage.

On first day we will drive around 250km from Almaty and we will see the Singing Sand dunes. That dunes are famous because Genghis Khan with is army was there 800 years ago and because you will hear a strange sound from the trees around and from the sand. We will try to hike the biggest dune that is around 150mt and we will have some time for explore the area.
The second day we will visit the Aktau Mountain, we can walk near there around 30-40 minutes and see the incredible landscape that turn from yellow to red, violet, orange and white due to the presence of different minerals.

4-5 Days / Kolsai, Kaindy Lake and Charyn Canyon

The magnificent cascade of Kolsai lakes are located 290 kilometers south-east of Almaty. That area is surrounded by three amazing alpine lakes, which are called Kolsai-1, Kolsai-2 and Kolsai-3, located respectively at an altitude of 1700, 2252 and 2650 meters above sea level. A lot of people consider them the pearl of the Northern Tien Shan mountains. Kaindy lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in Kazakhstan, and still not really touristic place. The lake is located at an altitude of 2000m, 26 kilometers far from the Kaindy river with the same name, near the Kolsai lake.

Translated from the Kazakh “Kaindy” means “abundant in birch”, the meaning of the name is because is full of large birch groves, located near the area and inside the lake in a spectacular way.

The first day we will hike around Kolsai lake and we can arrive to the second lake ( is possible do the road by horses also ) and the second day we will go to the second lake and to the Charyn Canyon.

6 Day / Shimbulak and trekking around the area

After the Canyon we will go to the famous resort Shimbulak, where we will take 2 cable railway until the peak Talgar ( 3000 mt). From here we can do some trekking or walking around the area.
For people that don't like trekking we can just see the view and go back to the first cable railway and enjoy a coffee with a nice view and relax.

7 Day / Almaty city tour

Almaty is the biggest city in Kazakhstan, located in the south est part of the country. The population is around 1,8 million habitant. The city was very famous for be the old capital and the city remain the economic, financial and the cultural center of all Kazakhstan and Central Asia. It’s very ethical city, full of older buildings, oriental bazaars, church, mosques and a lot of other interesting things to see.

Tour program:
09.00 – Pickup from Airport or you hotel ( starting time can change based on your request )
09.30 – Visit of the Ascension Cathedral, the famous beautiful Russian Orthodox cathedral
10.00 – Visit the Green Bazaar and the Central Mosque
12.00 – Transfer to Koktobe, and lunch in amazing restaurant where you can see all the city from the top
14.00 – Visit of National Museum
16.00 - Drop Off in the Almaty train Station and train for Barnaul at 17,30 pm

9-10 Day / Arrive in Barnaul

Arrive in Barnaul in night and transfer in the local hotel, next day meeting with our guide and driving untill Ulgii ( 300km from Barnaul ). Visit of the local museum and dinner in a typical restaurant.

11 Day / Moving to Altai Tavan Bogd National Park

We head to Tavan Bogd National Park, through its stunning wilderness where expansive rocky plains give way to a green valley, and the rugged peaks of the Altai.
We will stop at Ulaan-khus to explore numerous petroglyphs and Turkic stone along the Sogoog River basin. It is surrounded by archaeological monuments constructed during the Bronze Age and the Hun and Turkic invasions.
In the evening, we will arrive at the campsite on the edge of the National Park boundary.

12-13 Days / Potanin Glacier

After breakfast, we will do a horse ride towards the base camp of the snow-capped Tavan Bogd Massif and to the impressive Potanin glacier - seeing both the Potanin and Alexander Glaciers.
The 20km long Potanin Glacier runs down from the highest mountains of Mongolia and is an excellent base for trekking and climbing the surrounding peaks. This is where we’ll pitch our tents and camp for the night.
The trek can be done also by walking on request.

14 Day / Tsagan Gol Valley

Today, we horse ride downhill to the Tsagan Gol Valley.
After our long trek, we’ll be welcomed by a nomadic Tuvan family. We’ll sample their dairy products, their special milk vodka distilled from yak milk, and peruse their wonderful felt crafts.

15 Day / Khoton and Hurgan Twin Lakes

We will ride with the horse caretaker to the border post, before jumping back into a vehicle and driving to Sirgali.
Here, we see the beautiful, crystal clear, Khoton and Hurgan twin lakes, filled with plenty of fish and where many birds make home. The landscape around the lakes is picturesque, surrounded by snow-capped mountains.
Please let us know if you would like to go fishing. We will then go and see ancient rock carvings of Turkic origin, 1500-2000 years old. Afterwards, we drive to Sumd-Airakh and stay overnight at a yurt.

16 day / Visit a Eagle Hunter Family

In the afternoon we will visit a Eagle Hunter family and we will see their ancient traditions and how they can catch with the eagles.

Day 17/ Return to Ulgii

We drive back to Ulgii, and after a full day of being on the road we arrive at your apartment accommodation, where you can enjoy a good hot shower.

Day 18 / Fly back to Ulan Bator

Today we will fly back to Ulan Bator, and the tour will finish, free time for shopping and see the city based on the fly hour.
No guide service or meal service, only drop off to the hotel.
